Inspiration rooted in symbols and humor
Jean Marc’s work stands out for combining clear ideas with a touch of humor. “I’m often inspired by graphic elements, logos, emblems, initials, or even a motto or a word,” he explains. “There has to be a story behind the artwork because I like to tell little stories through my drawings. And I always like to add a bit of humor.”
A ride down Route 66 — with a twist
For his Joplin piece, Jean Marc took the iconic Route 66 badge as his starting point — but with a clever twist: the double six is missing from the badge, yet you’ll find the number 6 cleverly hidden as the wheels of a motorcycle. “It’s literally: Ride the 66! Look closely and you’ll see the 6’s as the bike’s wheels,” he says. This playful detail invites visitors not just to watch, but to jump in and snap fun photos.
Next stop: Tiel
Jean Marc is still cooking up ideas for his Tiel artwork. “I don’t know yet what I’ll paint there, sorry!” he laughs. But one thing’s for sure: he’s excited to be part of this special edition celebrating Tiel’s rich history.
Connecting through art
What Jean Marc values most about these festivals is meeting people. “I hope to meet the people of Joplin and Tiel, and share my art with them. I want them to have fun taking photos on my works.” He’s looking forward to reconnecting with the warm and welcoming communities at both events and sharing the joy of street art.
An artist to watch
Jean Marc Navello proves that street art can be more than stunning visuals — it’s about storytelling, connection, and fun. His witty style and clever details invite everyone to become part of the story.
Catch Jean Marc in action at the World Street Painting Festival from June 4–7 at Schifferdecker Park in Joplin, and again June 18–22 across 10 locations in Tiel.
