Ride, fly, swing, and snap a photo!

Joplin is a 3D street art playground

Joplin, Missouri, has transformed once again. This time into a spectacular 3D art experience where you don’t just look at the artwork… you jump right in. Visitors are climbing into sidecars, flying alongside painted bugs with wings, and grabbing the handlebars of adventure: literally.

This year’s edition features 10 dazzling new 3D artworks that invite you to visit, interact, and take photos as part of the art. From the humorous to the nostalgic, each piece tells a unique story:

  • Roberto Carlos Treviño Rodriguez (MEX)Take a ride with Boomer

  • Melina Berg (DEU) Slot Car Racing
A nostalgic nod to childhood play, scaled up to interactive street level.

  • Tracy Lee Stum (USA)Yeehaw 66
A wild Western ride celebrating the cowboy spirit along Route 66.

A global effort, a local celebration

The artwork in Joplin represents an impressive international collaboration. Artists from Mexico, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Japan, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the USA have come together to shape this year’s edition. Each piece invites you to become a part of it: step in, pose, share and experience street art like never before.

Chris, Nate, and Naomi, the three artists from last year’s edition, set the tone in 2024 with themes of freedom, friendship, and fantasy. Their words still resonate:

  • “People can grab the handlebars and have an American adventure,” said Chris.

  • “Ride with a friend — even if it’s a dog,” joked Nate.

  • “I gave a VW bug wings,” added Naomi. “Because art should be a little magical.”

This spirit lives on in the 2025 edition.

Looking ahead: From Joplin to the World

This year marks the second step in a growing journey. In 2026 – the centennial of Route 66 – Joplin will host a once-in-a-lifetime 3D street art experience celebrating 100 years of America’s most legendary highway.

World Street Painting, the foundation behind the event, continues to spread this artistic movement across borders.  The next city is already on the horizon: 👉 Tiel, the Netherlands, where 6000 years of history will collide with cutting-edge 3D art this summer.
